      The HSR-1 is a digital hybrid time lapse recorder which utilizes a hard disk buffer and DV tape archiving. The hybrid configuration results in extremely high reliabilty. The tape transport and heads of the HSR-1 are stationary most of the time because the DV tape drive works only while recording the image data being transferred from the Hard Disk Drive. Therefore, the head running time of the tape mechanism is drastically reduced to 1/4 (in 24-hour recording mode using a 270-minute tape) compared with conventional equipment. This makes the HSR-1 an essential requirement for high performance, high resoultion digital video recording and archiving.
